About Us
Founded in August 1989, Explore Monroe is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit destination-marketing organization dedicated to promoting the full breadth of experiences in Monroe County, Michigan. We are funded through Michigan’s P.A. 59 (Community Convention & Tourism Marketing Act).
At Explore Monroe, our guiding vision is simple: to shine a light on the unique combination of nature, history, culture and recreation that makes Monroe County a standout destination. From being known as the “Walleye Capital of the World” to offering scenic shoreline parks, historic battlefields and vibrant agritourism, we believe the county holds something compelling for every kind of traveler.
We serve a broad set of audiences--whether you’re planning a family getaway, a business meeting, a sports event or simply a scenic weekend escape. Our team works to make planning easy—highlighting attractions, lodging, dining, itineraries and event-opportunities so your visit is seamless and memorable.
